Carol Sim
CEO
Carol has more than 30 years of experience in rehabilitation nursing and hospital leadership. Before joining HealthSouth in 2011, she served eight years as president and CEO of the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, a member of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. Carol also served as CEO of a visiting nurse association in Connecticut and as a director in the hospital administration at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Carol has a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health policy and management, both from Columbia University.

Jimmy Lockhart
Medical Director
Dr. Jimmy Lockhart is the chief medical officer and medical director at HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. A graduate of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Lockhart completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Marlene Goodwin-Esola MSN, NE-BC, RN-C
Chief Nursing Officer
Marlene has more than 30 years experience in both acute care and academia. She graduated from Trenton State College in New Jersey with a bachelor's degree in nursing, and achieved her master's deree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania as a cardiac clinical specialist. She holds two certifications in both nursing administration and cardiac/vascular nursing. She has published in peer review journals, has been a contributing author to a Nursing Pharmacology text, and has served on national committees for nursing administration. Marlene is responsible for the departments of Nursing, Respiratory, Pharmacy and Lab.

Susan Aldrich
Director of Therapy Operations
 Susie graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago, with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. An experienced clinician and manager, she has inpatient, outpatient and rehabilitation training from Lutheran General Hospital, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center, and HealthSouth Treasure Coast. Susie is NDT certified and specializes in rehabilitation. Her passion is education and her teaching experience includes seminars on Stroke Management, Gait Dysfunction and Neuro Rehabilitation.

Darlene Silverstein, RN
DMO
Darlene joined HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital in 2002 as a case manager and transitioned to the marketing department in 2005 as a nurse liaison. In July 2009, she became director of marketing operations. Darlene has extensive clinical and management experience with 28 years as a nurse. Prior to joining HealthSouth, she was director of medical services at an Assisted Living in New Jersey. Her priority is insuring patients and families are informed about their rehabilitation needs and offering them the best option for rehabilitation.


Kevin Hardy
Chief Financial Officer

Kevin serves as the chief financial officer for HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. He has more than 23 years of progressive financial and administrative experience ranging from large, for-profit medical-surgical and specialty hospitals, to both large and small nonprofit community health systems where he was responsible for all the financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and facility operational management reporting and control. While at HealthSouth Treasure Coast, Kevin has held the positions of controller, regional controller and, briefly, was responsible for the operational duties as interim administrator. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

 

 

 


Alastair Kennedy
President of the Medical Staff
Dr. Alastair Kennedy received his medical degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He has been a senior guest lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and a research professor at the State University of Buffalo in New York. Dr. Kennedy is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the Royal Academy of Physicians. He is credentialed in internal medicine, rheumatology and rehabilitation. Dr. Kennedy has been elected the president of the medical staff since the hospital opened. With a focus on education, Dr. Kennedy is active as a community advisor to the new FSU medical school extension in Indian River County and guests lectures at the University of South Florida Medical School.

Barbara Harvey
Barbara brings 37 years of nursing experience to HealthSouth. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina. She has her certification in rehabilitation nursing as well as case management.
Barbara began her career as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps and served on the State Board of the Case Management Society of Florida from 1997 to 2000. Barbara joined HealthSouth in 1991 and thoroughly enjoys working with patients and families ensuring they receive the best possible care, preparation, and resources in order to return home.

Pearl Shisler
Pearl’s experience in human resources, administration and management spans 25 years with hospitality, service, and healthcare organizations in North Carolina, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Florida. A human resources generalist, she has served in facility, regional and corporate positions. After attending UNC at Charlotte, she continued studies through Drew University and Houston Baptist University. With a strong belief that employees are a company’s most valuable asset, Pearl provides a listening ear, information, education and guidance in an effort to help every employee and manager succeed.

Frederick Kiesel
Fred received a bachelor’s degree in Management from Barry University after receiving both an AAS in Engineering and an AA in Business from Indian River Community College. He holds certifications n Healthcare Facility Management (CHFM), Healthcare Engineering (CHE) and Indoor Air Quality (CIAQP). Fred has more than 25 years experience in healthcare management and has held offices in many organizations. After holding the position of State President of Florida Healthcare Engineering Association, Fred had the honor of serving as a board member on the nationally recognized American Society for Healthcare Engineers.

Catherine M. Hanskutt, RN, BSN, LHRM
Cathy began serving in the capacity of director of quality and risk ,management in June 2011 bringing more than 20 years of experience in acute care. She has served in a variety of departments including nursing, corporate education, human resources, occupational health services, case management, performance improvement and risk management. Cathy earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Buffalo. She attended University of Central Florida where she achieved licensure as a Health Care Risk Manager in Florida. She oversees quality, risk management, patient safety, health information management systems and nutrition services.
